Paving, pothole repair, sealcoating and striping for the lots, alleys and drives around Park Central Square — planned around your business hours.
Tell us about the surface and we respond the same business day.
Downtown Springfield is the busiest few blocks in the Ozarks, and the pavement down here proves it. Between Park Central Square, the shops along South Avenue, the crowds at Hammons Field and the traffic pouring off St. Louis Street, these lots and alleys carry more wheels in a week than a quiet subdivision sees in a year.
I run the crew at Springfield Asphalt Contractors, and downtown is one of our favorite places to work. It is also one of the trickiest. Half the parking here sits behind buildings, reached through narrow alleys that were laid out long before delivery trucks got this big. Add one-way streets, metered spaces out front and an event calendar that fills the square most weekends, and you can see why a downtown paving job takes more planning than a driveway on the edge of town.
That is the part we handle for you.
Three things beat up asphalt down here more than anywhere else in the city.
The first is traffic weight. Delivery trucks, dumpsters and grease haulers hit the same few feet of pavement every week, usually right at the alley entrance. That spot fails first, every time.
The second is water. A lot of downtown lots drain toward the building instead of away from it, because the grade was set decades ago and nobody has touched it since. Water sitting against a slab is what turns a small crack into a pothole after one Missouri winter.
The third is age. Some of these surfaces have been patched five or six times by five or six different people. Patches on top of patches never bond into one solid mat, and they come apart at the seams.
We are an asphalt contractor first, and we handle the whole surface rather than one piece of it. Around downtown that usually means:
for lots, alleys and access drives
and crack filling to keep water out
including ADA spaces and fire lanes
like curbs, dumpster pads, sidewalks and ramps
and grading when the base under a lot has failed
for private drives and access roads
Most downtown calls start as one pothole and end up being a conversation about drainage. We will tell you which one you actually have.
We are a family owned business here in Springfield, Missouri. The same people who quote your job are the people who run the equipment, so nothing gets lost between the sales pitch and the work.
Our crew is trained on the equipment they run, we carry liability insurance, and we work as a licensed contractor in the city. On downtown jobs we set cones and barricades properly, keep a walking path open where people need to get by, and clean up the site before we leave. Hot material and open trenches next to a public sidewalk are not something to be casual about.
You can see what customers say about our work on our Google Business Profile.

Send a photo and we will tell you straight — repair, seal coat or repave. Free written estimate either way.
We work the full downtown core and everything around it. Think of the box between Chestnut Expressway on the north, National Avenue on the east, Grand Street on the south and Kansas Expressway on the west. Inside that we are on Park Central East and West, Boonville, Campbell, Jefferson, South Avenue, St. Louis Street, College Street, Walnut, Olive and the alleys running between them.
We also cover Jordan Valley, the Hammons Field area, Founders Park, the IDEA Commons blocks and the older buildings along Commercial Street just north of the center.
If you are downtown, we already know your block. We have probably parked a truck on it.

A few things we plan around on every downtown job:
Most downtown lots are reached through an alley barely wide enough for our equipment. We walk it before quoting so there are no surprises on the day.
First Friday Art Walk, Cider Days, ballgames at Hammons Field and the Route 66 festival all fill the square. We schedule around them rather than trying to work through them.
Restaurants need their lot at night. Offices need it during the day. We run early mornings, evenings or weekends so you never lose your whole lot at once.
Fresh asphalt needs to be left alone. Sealer needs to stay dry. We tell you exactly how long before we start, so you can warn staff and customers.
Work that touches a public street or sidewalk may need city approval. The City of Springfield Public Works department handles that, and we will tell you when it applies to your job.
Every estimate is free, and every number goes in writing before anything starts. If your lot needs a small repair instead of a big repave, that is what we will quote, even though the small job pays us less. That is how you end up with customers who call again.
We also stand behind the work. If something is not right after we leave, call us and we come back.
